The powers, functions and responsibilities of the Student Council derive from the people of the State of Michigan through the Board of Governor(s) of Wayne State University and from the students of the University who comprise a vital element of the academic community. The Student Council is the primary representative institution of the student body and exercises its authority in the students name and for the students’ welfare.
